Washing Care
Did you know that the average American family does about 8-10 loads of laundry every single week? That results in thousands of gallons of water and a tremendous amount of energy. Luckily, there are some simple changes you can make to minimize your energy and water usage.

Here are some suggestions on how you can wash and care for your Artifact clothing:
Wear it more than once
Pretty self explanatory. The simplest way to reduce energy and water usage is to just reduce the amount you do it and the easiest way to do that is to wear your garments more than once. If your garment is clean and smells clean, why not wear it again and wait until you absolutely need to wash it.
Wash by hand
We know, hand washing your laundry could be time-consuming, but with awesome tools like a pedal washer or a laundry plunger can be a cheap and efficient way to wash your clothes. Plus, something about hand washing is very therapeutic. Just pop in a podcast or your favorite playlist and time will fly by.
Use an energy efficient washing machine
Energy efficient washing machines can use less than half of a conventional top loading washing machine. That means less energy and less water. Replacing your old washing machine with an energy efficient one will likely pay for itself in the long run when you account for the energy and water savings.
Use cold water
Did you know that using cold water could save you 80-90% in energy costs. This simple adjustment could save you hundreds of dollars a year. Not to mention that hot water has a harsher effect on your garments.
Opt to air dry vs using the dryer
Next to refrigerators, dryers are one of the most energy consuming household items. Instead, air drying your laundry can minimize static, clinging, and shrinkage in your clothing, prolonging the life of your clothing. Clothesline or drying racks are simple and easy ways to air dry your clothes to maximize their life.
Invest in higher quality garments
Investing in higher quality garments, instead of cheap, fast fashion clothing is another way to get the most of your clothing. That is why we dedicate to creating only the highest quality of garments in order to maximize the life of that garment. That means, you can use that same piece of clothing longer and reduce the overall amount of clothing you need to buy.
Use an eco-friendly laundry detergent
Conventional laundry detergents often contain a lot of synthetic and harmful chemicals that can end up down the drain. When shopping for detergents, look for biodegradable or eco-friendly products that are made from plants or vegetables.
At the end of the day, we make sure all of our garments are the highest of quality and made to last so we can minimize our energy and water consumption in our collective effort to protect our home, Earth.
